This is a responsible, technical, shop floor, and leadership position that will focus on the management of both the molding function and molding personnel at Summit Elizabethtown, Plant 09 in Kentucky.
The Department Manager – Molding is a staff level position that reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for all aspects of safety, quality, cost and delivery associated with the Molding Department. Personnel management includes the direct supervision, training, enforcement of safe work practices and policies, and participation in hiring of Production Supervisors, Mold Technicians and Molding Utilities.
This position is responsible for assuring that molded products meet internal and external quality standards while meeting all production requirements. Production output must be reported in an accurate and timely manner; monthly production planning will include development of equipment loading sheets, material handling system loading, and determining staffing needs.
Leadership will be required to implement and adhere to Summit’s Lean Manufacturing System and Corporate Molding room Standards while achieving performance metrics (and leading corrective actions) for department goals in safety, quality, cost and delivery. The successful candidate will develop, lead, and implement cost reduction activities including scrap/waste reduction and efficiency optimization.
The Molding Department Manager will collaborate and support the engineering function in new program development using Knowledge Based Product Development methodology, while complying with TS16949 standards and internal quality procedures. This person will then manage the transition of new molds and products into production which requires excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with internal plant departments and Technical Center staff.

To be considered, you must provide salary requirements. Prefer BS in engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must have a minimum of four years experience in automotive injection molded plastic manufacturing. Knowledge of injection mold processing, molding automation, and lean manufacturing systems is highly preferred.
