 Do you have at least 5 years of CMM programming experience? If so, we’re looking for you! Thermotech, one of the premier custom injection molders of close tolerance, engineered resins, currently has an opportunity for a Metrology Technician II.
Primary responsibilities include programming computer controlled coordinate measure machines (CMM) (touch, probe and vision) using surfaced CAD solid models; reviewing prints and requirements to determine appropriate inspection methods; performing daily/monthly maintenance on inspection equipment; working with Quality Assurance Engineers, Project Managers and design personnel on new and existing projects; providing accurate surface analysis for tool steel modifications that may have significant monetary impact; developing uncertainty budgets for lab inspection equipment; setting up and continuously monitoring statistical analysis of Metrology Lab systems; as well as other important responsibilities.
Your qualifications need to include computer literacy with emphasis on Microsoft Word and Excel, must have experience in surface plate work and demonstrated ability to apply independent judgment; extensive Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing experience and the ability to set-up data import templates; SPC Charting, and to prepare and interpret long and short-term capability studies; must be self-motivating and exhibit leadership ability; inspection techniques, the high degree of accuracy and precision required, the complexity of the molded parts, and the scheduling pressures demand a considerable degree of mental and visual attention; must be able to adapt to changing priorities. Also, at least 5 years of CMM programming experience is required.
