Desired Results of the Plastic Molding Job:
Provide Engineering support to the start up and production process for the rotomolding department; Troubleshoot problems with production and take corrective action; Coordinate cross functional teams to improve overall manufacturing performance, schedule attainment, eliminate and/or reduce waste and improve quality.
Essential Plastic Molding Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the start up, production process, quality, scrap, efficiency, and budget for the rotomolding department. Improve overall product quality, manufacturing capability, productivity and process control.
Leads, guides, energizes, and executes rotomolding manufacturing activities, including mold changes, verification of labor hours and efficiency, attainment, schedule machine and tool PM to meet customer requirements.
Develop standard work, work instructions, for the rotomolding area.
Responsible to drive results on rotomolding area, packing, printing or heat transfer label and other required processes.
Implementation applications of Poka Yoke systems, SPC and DOE techniques for root cause and defect analysis.
Manage resources to improve productivity, reduce scrap, and reduce material waste using lean manufacturing strategies.
Research the purchase of equipment or upgrades to existing equipment.
Work closely with the maintenance department to develop preventive maintenance programs.
Identify new equipment, tool designs, and processes to improve consistency, accuracy, and cycle times.
Responsible for the successful transition of new products to/through the rotomolding department.
Facilitate new product samples for the Sales and Marketing group
Maintain and improve production efficiency levels (direct and indirect labor standards)
Develop and oversee the layout for equipment, molds, and tooling; providing regular assessment of compliance to Safety.
Assist and train rotomolding associates in troubleshooting and processing all equipment.
Collect and maintain all relevant technical documents, manuals and drawings on rotomolding and related equipment.
Make visual and written standard operating procedures for rotomolding processes.
Plans and directs activities concerned with design and development of protective packaging; Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications of new product to determine physical characteristics of item, special-handling and safety requirements, and type of materials required for container.
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirement, workflow and designs layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Responsible for performing all of the required duties for rotomolding decoration products.
Identify and implement shop floor and supplier savings
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Plastic Molding Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Technology or related field with seven years (7) engineering and manufacturing experience with knowledge of rotomold processes OR Twelve years experience in rotomolding processing in lieu of degree
Knowledge of rotomolding secondary operations like, packaging, decorating and other automated assembly processes
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Toyota Production System, 5S, Theory of Constraints & Value Stream Mapping.
Experience with formulating and implementing process improvements and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands essential to the job: Able to perform any job on shop floor
Work environment: heat, cold, humidity
Preferred Plastic Molding Job Qualifications:
Knowledge of SPC
Microsoft Office: Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Experience with lean systems and/or Six Sigma experience and certification are desirable
