Machine Operator (3rd shift -3 openings)Posted by: Thermotech, Inc.Posted date: 2012-May-10
Location: Hopkins, Mn
At Thermotech, Inc., our Machine Operators play a huge role in keeping our company competitive in the plastics industry by producing quality parts. Therefore, we feel that finding the right fit for our team is extremely important. If you are a fast learner who is seeking a position where you can learn, grow, and progress into higher-level positions, we are looking for you. Our Machine Operators work in a manufacturing environment, running manual and automatic plastic injection molding machines, most of which includes operating automation equipment, too. Currently, we have opportunities for individuals who can work 3rd shift, which runs Sunday night 11:00 pm through Friday morning at 7:00 am. For working 3rd shift, employees are eligible for a $0.75/hour shift premium in addition to their base rate of pay. We also offer on-the-job training, as well as a computer-based training and certification program for all new Machine Operators. In this important role, you will tend or operate one or more plastic molding machines and/or lugging machines. Good hand/eye coordination is important, because you’ll be using machines, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or hand tools to perform a variety of quality checks on the parts you are producing. Because the product that is going to our customer must be defect-free, you will need to visually inspect and sort parts to a pre-determined quality level, watching for flaws such as short shots, burns, dirt, and visual/dimensional defects. Some parts require assembly, while others must be trimmed or have other work performed on them before they’re ready to be sent to our customers.
Besides producing parts of exceptional quality, you will also be responsible for completing all required paperwork accurately. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining process control charts and other special records. Being an active participant of the manufacturing team and bringing up new ideas and problem-solving techniques are characteristics that we not only require, but we value in your position as a Machine Operator. You will also be asked to maintain a clean and neat workspace and help with other duties, as needed.
Successful candidates will be able to perform repetitive short cycle operations involving the visual inspection of parts and be able to interpret visual defects. The ability to carry out simple instructions, as well as use basic hand tools and fixed gauges is also required. If you think you’d make a good candidate for this role, please apply now. We look forward to hearing from you!
